The Symbolon


"Symbolon" derives from the Greek word symballein, literally: "to throw together". In German exists an almost identical word: Zu- sammen-ballen, sym -> sam, ballein -> ballen. The German language also preserves that most archaic indication, or Symbolon, of the act of Zu-sammen-ballen ( symballein): the clenching of the Fist (das Ballen der Faust).

. The Greek and German terms visualize the protistic action inherent in all symbolism: The conglomeration of a manifold of sensory impressions into a perceptive and conceptual entity , which we mark with a word. All our conceptual knowledge consists of immense networks of symballizations
